Summer Camps

Dallas Black Dance Theatre

 

Summer Youth Workshop (ages 9-15) / 8:30pm – 3:00pm / $100 registration due May 10th.

 

Students will participate in ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, and African classes taught by Dallas Black Dance Theatre company dancers. A final presentation at the end of the workshop - June 17, 2011 - will showcase each participant, and awards will be presented. DBDT.com for more information.

Nasher Sculpture Center

Destination Dallas: Summer Architecture Workshop (Open to students entering grades 9-12)

June 20–24 / 9am – 3pm / $250

Join architect and educator Peter Goldstein, AIA, for a week-long workshop exploring some of the most talked-about and innovative structures in Dallas.  Participants will visit buildings designed by a host of the world’s leading architects including Pritzker Prize Laureates Renzo Piano, Richard Meier, Norman Foster, Thom Mayne and I. M. Pei. Destination Dallas is sponsored by the Nasher Sculpture Center, The Rachofsky House and the Dallas Center for Architecture.

This summer, the Nasher is pleased to offer two new camps for early elementary-age children.  Through stories, games, and hands-on art project, campers will discover the history behind sculptures in the Nasher Collection and the methods and materials used by artists.

Yogiños: Yoga for Youth

Yogiños: Yoga for Youth is an OHMazing™ trilingual yoga camp facilitated in English, Spanish, and Sanskrit that uses music, games, stories, and sensory integrated activities to align minds, bodies, and hearts both on and off the yoga mat!

Children as young as 2 years old and their favorite adult can join certified yoga instructors for engaging parent and child yoga sessions in the galleries. $15 for public, $10 for Crow Collection members, FREE for

Join Arturo, the Museum’s family mascot, for an interactive Family Audio Tour.
Three fun-filled tours are available for ages 5–11 at the Visitor Services Desk at no charge.

Sketching in the Galleries for Kids

Every third Saturday with some exceptions, 1–3:00pm
Families are invited to sketch from original works of art. All supplies are provided.

Collection Connections

Sundays, 1:30–3:30pm Level 3 

Take an in-depth look at a different work of art each month. A trained volunteer will be in the galleries with engaging materials for all ages.

Arturo’s Art & Me

For a 3–5 year old and a favorite grown-up! 

Adults and young children will work together to look at works of art, read a related story in the galleries, and do an art-making activity in the studio. Taught by Museum education staff. Class size limited to 12 pairs.

Toddler Art

For 2 and 3 year olds and a favorite grown-up. 

We will look at a work of art in the museum galleries, then play with our new friends in Arturo’s Nest, the Museum’s kid-friendly space. Taught by Museum education staff. Class size is limited to twelve pairs.

Center for Creative Connections Tech Lab

What do you get when you cross art objects with technology?

The Tech Lab is a space in the Center for Creative Connections where you can blog about, tag, and research objects in the Dallas Museum of Art’s collections.  It is also a space to experiment with current technologies and create original work during special classes, workshops, and programs.

First Tuesdays at the Dallas Museum of Art

11am–2pm, Center for Creative Connections
Admission to the Museum is free on the first Tuesday of every month. First Tuesday programming is designed for children ages five and under and their families. Enjoy thematic art-making activities, story times, performances, and gallery activities.
